Its a Wonderful Life!

This summer I have been running a summer program for school aged kids and its been a total blast, the change of pace from the babies is crazy and I come home absolutely pooped every day, but it is nice to get to do crafts/ science experiments/ and go the park rather than sitting down all day. . . . . . I still miss my babies though.

Seth and I joined a gym 3 weeks ago and we have been faithfully going 5 days a week, go us! Seth works out in the normal gym and I have been taking advantage of all the fun classes they offer, my favorite so far is Zumba! So much fun! Im severely lacking in any dancing abilities which hampers my ability to kepp up in any way, shape, or form but I have a blast and it is definitely a work out. Sunday my friend Caitlyn took me with her to BodyPump, it is an hour and a half of intense weightlifting, today I am hobbling around from all the lunges we did and I won't be going back there any time soon, I'll stick to Zumba and step aerobics for a while.

Wednesday we leave to Houston to go to a wedding Seth and I are both in, along the way we are stopping by Seth's family to visit/spend the night. We are excited for the trip especially since it will be our first and only chance to see our friends who all left Searcy for the summer (read: EVERYONE LEFT).

Other than that we are just looking forward to our last year of undergrad and looking for grad schools, ideas anyone???

Winding Down

The semester is winding down and boy are we glad! One of my teachers bribed us to fill out our teachers evaluations by taking us to Fro-Yo today if we all fill them out, which of course we did. So in place of class today we get frozen yougurt! Dead week is next week which means I still have to go to all my classes but no tests or homework! After finals Seth and I both took 2 weeks off of work and we are 1. MOVING!!! 2. going home to see my family and 3. going to see his family! A few weeks ago we got a call asking if we were still interested in an apartment we had applied for in Feb. We said "yes" we were still very interested! So the weekend after finals we got to move into our new place, I am so excited!

This Summer I got offered a full time job at the kindergarden I work at now. Right now I work in the infant buidling, which I love but this summer they want me to run the program for elementry aged students since they are out of school. I am really excited about this opportunity! My boss said I can pretty much do whatever I want so I am busily planning out activities and field trips!

Midterms and Mad Mommies

This past week has been pretty hectic. This was midterms week for us so of course I was totally swamped with projects, papers, and tests but I came through in one piece . . . for the most part anyways. I am so ready for Spring Break. I am staying here because I have to work, Seth is going home to see his family and be there for his olders brothers baptism. We are so happy for Levi getting baptized but I will definitely miss Seth. He will be staying in Texas for most of Spring Break probably. Oh well, I guess this gives me and Luaren (my work buddy) some time to hang out, just the girls).

I work at a kindergarten/daycare and for the most part most of the moms are pretty cool about everything and understanding about the fact that we have 12 children in our care. One Mom this past week brought her son in on Monday. He was pretty upset all day, it was his first time in daycare so we figured it was understandable. We did what we could to make him a happy kid, but he wasn't really appreciating it. Anyways, around three is naptime or time to eat for most of the kids so its kinda a crazy few minutes while we get bottles ready and lay them down for their naps. The new child was screaming but we had to put him down for a minute while things were prepared for him. Of course right as he gets set down, still screaming, his Mom walks in. Mom got a bit hostile and after chewing us out called DHS and reported us. We passed DHS inspection without problems but our boss filed a police report on the mom after she came back again, still upset. Now Mom is threatening us with a law suit for filing a report on her. Oh goodness . . . .

For Chirstmas this year Seth and I got to take a trip to Durango Colorado with Seth's friend Remington! We had a total blast, the weather was beautiful, and the skiing was fabulous!

This was the first yarn store I had ever gotten to go to and I spent a good two hours in there so the boys abandoned me to go find something for themselves to do. I spent all my Christmas money in here and have started a new top for myself with some of my findings :)

Seth had to work today for the first time this week and I have had the whole day to myself to do pretty much nothing. I have almost completed a hat for myself though......anyways I started on Farmville on facebook today while searching for something to fill my time, its so addicting! Ive already planned out my whole little farm. If your on Farmville we should become neighbors!

I got the job!

My interview went really really well today and I got the job working in the infant building at the preschool next to our apartments! Im so excited, the week after Christmas we start "training" and then the building officially opens the 4th of January. I will work about twenty hours a week and our uniforms are scrubs and crocks, I have a feeling I am going to love my job!

back from Thanksgiving and onto finals!

We got back from Thanksgiving break late Sunday night, the break was not nearly long enough but it was wonderful! Seth had to work till Tuesday so I took the car and went ahead so I would get a chance to see my family during the break. It was awesome, Mom and I took off to get the turkey Sunday after church and got to enjoy a long car ride together talking the whole way. I've really missed my Mom and so the car trip was great. My wonderful family also has dvr :) this is great for me because I follow criminal minds but don't get to watch it when Im away, but my family has every episode that has aired since I left recorded and Im proud (well maybe not really proud) that I finished every episode they had so kindly recorded for me.

We got to have Thanksgiving dinner while I was there and my Mom's parents came as well and we all enjoyed eating mom's food and playing dominos together :) I recently begun looking for a more challenging knitting project and decided it was time to try out my first pair of socks. I have kind of avoided socks since for most people turning the heel of the sock seems to be confusing and I didn't have anyone to help me if I couldn't get it. But, I decided just to trust the pattern and go for it. Im so glad I did because I really enjoyed making them and they turned out very well! Now I feel empowered and am looking forward to fair isle......but that may be a bit beyond me yet, who knows :)

Wednsday morning I left and headed to Seth's family's house where Seth was by now to spend part of our break with them and have thanksgiving with them as well. We all went over to his Grammies house with his Aunts, Unckes, and Cousins and spent the day visiting, watching football, and eating more thanksgiving deliciousness, happy day! Plus, as an added bonus his cousin has had a baby who was there! He was precious and I spent plenty of time with him.

But now we are back at school. We only have dead week left before finals and my countdown to our ski trip has begun! We are spending 8 days skiing in Colorado and I absolutely cannot wait! Seth has never been skiing (and actually he will be learning to snowboard not skiing) and neither is his friend Remington who is also going so Im sure it will be a fun trip!

On Monday one of our psychology proffessors informed Seth and I that he has a two bedroom house availible for rent and offered us a really good price on it. Its a little older and is next door to a cemetary (at least we won't have noisy neighbors) has hard wood floors through the living room and kitchen but is otherwise carpeted. It has lots of windows, a carport, a small garage, and a nice size backyard (which would definitely mean we need a puppy to play in it ;) ). Unfortunately without me currently working we couldn't quite afford it and that had us a bit bummed. But it looks like my massive job hunting quest may possibly (fingers crossed) be coming to and end! I have applied everywhere in Searcy, had a few call backs even but once they realized I was a student they became uninterested since I couldn't work during my school hours. Bu, just today I got a call back from the preeschool at the end of our block that I just applied at yesterday! They are opening a new building just for infants and toddlers and from talking to Mrs Smith (the owner) it looks like thats where they are looking to place people. So I have an interview there on Monday so please pray that things go well and that I both get the job start soon!

Death of my notebook

For those who didn't know I am a Queen for the guys club Delta Chi Delta, which is really cool since Seth is in this club and being one of their Queens means I get to go to all their fun activities for free! Delta Chi had their annul retreat this past weekend and since Seth is the club's devo director he was in charge of it. One of his responsibilities was to gather everything needed for the campfire. So we gathered all of Walgreens adds from last week from the store and threw them in the car's backseat. Earlier that day I had taken the car home from school and thrown all my books and notebooks in the backseat since I hadn't brought my backpack. That evening I decided not to go to the retreat after all because I was feeling pretty crummy....I didn't even think about my notebooks. That evening Seth sent one of the guys to the car to gather the fire supplies and in the dark he just grabbed all the paper in the backseat, including my notebook. . . . I got a call from Seth who was at the retreatand he asked me if the notebook in the car was really important, I told him it was my Bible class notebook and since we had a test on Monday that yes, it was indeed important. I hear silence...... then he tells me that it was accidently thrown into the bonfire. He continues that luckily one of the guys saw it as it fell into the flames and had fished it out and that he thought some of it was saved since they could still see writing on a few pages. Unfortunately what I got back was the faded notes from my last page. Not super helpful. I'll post pictures eventually

I decided to rearrange the house! I was needing a project this afternoon and knitting wasn't really cutting it :) I got the whole place rearranged and cleaned in 1 hour! There are benefits to living in a shoebox after all! Also Staci and I went to Little Rock today for some quality dress shopping time (again), and after a few stores, and alot of dresses she really fell in love with one that looks super fabulous on her and its on sale!! Now that we are home and both starving we came to Staci's apartment to cook some dinner (by we I really mean she is cooking while I am blogging) for our boys. Tonight is open house, which is Harding code for "the one night a month boys are allowed in the dorms" so for once the boys can eat inside instead of us trying to find a place outside to eat together. This of course is not a problem when we cook at my house but her kitchen is much bigger so we like cooking here more when its going to be several of us in the same kitchen. . . . dinner smells like it must be ready, I'm going to go get some ;)

Seth and I are all settled in and have been enjoying getting to have our friends over to the apartment and having a place to be. I have a job at the campus library which I am absolutely LOVING! I work in three departments, acquisitions, withdraws, and lately I have been getting to work with the archives collection at the library which is totally cool! Seth got a job at the Walgreens photo lab and he is really enjoying, the only downside (not really I guess) is that since he is new they have been giving him tons of hours and he works every Saturday. But we get a paycheck so it works out.

Classes are going great! Social psych started out a little rough but now I am really loving it, we are talking alot about self perception and how your view of yourself affects how you view other people. Its really interesting stuff. We have to present a research proposal to the class which I am nervous about but I can choose anything I want and I think I'll find something fun :)

Congratulations to Staci and Tony! They are some of my best buddies here at school and they got engaged just recently! Staci asked me to be a bridesmaid and Seth is also in the wedding. Wedding shopping with Staci has been a blast and Tuesday we are headed to Little Rock to do some dress shopping for Staci, how fun!

Today Julie came over to look at decorations I have for the wedding, we didn't do much talking about the decorations but that was ok, its always fun to chat with her. Plus we got to go to the Scholastic book fair! . . . . . She also reminded me that I hadn't updated my blog. :) Last week I was back in Oklahoma babysitting for the youth ministers again, of course I had a blast. We had a totally different group of kids this time around and that was fun for me. Fortunately I also had a new room. The room they used to put me in was a big common room in one of the dorms, it was open, so anyone who walked by *cough MOMS* were seen by the kids and it was also right next to an elevator. Altogether just not the best set up for trying to watch 12 kiddos. This time around I had a closed off private room, much better! Later I'll add some pictures of the kids they are so precious. The girls even drew me a picture of my wedding complete with me and Seth, the Church, a car to drive away in, and a rainbow :)

Seth picked me up in Waco on the way home and I went to his house for the weekend for his Church's shower. Also, a surprise to me, our friend Meagan came down for the weekend to visit also. I really enjoyed having her there and getting a chance to spend time with her. But alas, Monday morning came and I had to head back to San Antonio to do some last minute wedding planning (I enjoy procrastinating ;) ) so yesterday I:
Picked out my wedding music and found a singer
Picked out food for the reception
Put together the slideshow we are showing
Bought bridesmaid's jewelry
And finally, I figured out what I was going to do my hair
And that was yesterdays to-do list :)

This next week will be pretty hectic but once we move into Searcy I'll catch up and blog on the wedding and honeymoon :) right now Im off to do some more last minute prep!

Camp Zenith

I am the babysitter for all the youth ministers at our Church camp Zenith. I don't have near as many kids this year as I did last year and it is both good and bad. Good: less crazieniess and I get to know the kids better, Bad: not nearly as many adorable children to hang out with all day :). I only get to watch the kids in the morning while their Dads teach classes then in the evenings I have them again during worship. This leaves me with about seven hours of the afternoon to myself. This year Julie has been kind enough to let me help out with some of her runnings around and in the snack trailer, she gets a helper and I get an afternoon with people whose conversation extends beyond the backyardigans :) Tonight I had 5 kids to watch and the two girls both set up pretend restraunts for me to come and dine at. This was a pretty elaborate set up they had let e tell you. Each girl rearanged furniture to make her restraunt, and made me a menu. I was served chocolate lemonade with tator tots and hot sauce at Mia's and coffee with a orange brownie at Allie's. The creativity these girls have is impressive, I had a blast sipping my invisible coffee and hoping for second helping of tator tots with hot sauce. Mia also came over and explained the difference between boys and girls to me (and everyone else who walked by, she didn't use her indoor voice for this conversation!) which illicited some strange looks from passing campers and staff and lots of laughs from me. I am really wishing I had brought my camera to camp, hopefully I will remember that for next session.

Seth is finally making his way down to San Antonio with his Mom this weekend to make arrangements for tuxs and cakes and the like, I can't wait to see him, its been two weeks since I saw him last but it seems like forever... 39 days, but who's counting? ;) Seth and I are moving into a partly furnished apt this Fall but we still needed some furniture to complete the place and we were blessed greatly by some family friends of mine. They are moving out of their old house and decided to get new furniture, and give lots of their old stuff to us! We inherited a coffee table, two end tables, an entertainment center and tv, and a dressor! We are both so excited!

Seth will come Friday (which is the day I get home from Zenith) and stay through Monday when my very first host sister from Juliette Low Megan (yep, same name) is coming all the way to Texas to visit fo a while before continuing her trip back to J.Low without me sadly enough. (but I'm getting married so I think I'm getting a pretty fair trade)

My first post!

I decided to create a blog so that everyone can stay up to date (if I remember to post :)) with all that is going on for us. Seth and I are getting married August 1st (68 days left!) here in Schertz at the Schertz Church of Christ. I have just about everything but flowers settled, this is a task for Mom and me when I get back from Seth's house this weekend. My bridesmaids are in an almost lime green color and I am using pink as an accent.

Tomorrow is Seth's 21st birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY SETH!) and I leave first thing in the morning for his house where I will be till Saturday. I haven't seen him since school got out the first week of this month and I can't wait to get in the car tomorrow! Other than this week the only other time I will see him this Summer will be when he comes down to pick out his tux, and the weekend I'll spend up there in June for a shower his Church is having for us. Needless to say, this Summer looks like it will drag on forever. On the bright side, in only 68 days I will get to see him everyday for the rest of my life!

After the wedding we are heading back up to school early to move into our new apartment and get things settled before school starts up again

This is a picture of our apartment, we have an upstairs and a downstairs with the living room, dining area, and kitchen downstairs then upstairs we have the bedroom and at the end of the hall is the bathroom. It is only about a block off campus on the girls side, so it will be convenient. Once we move in I'll be sure to post more pictures :)
